We are excited to welcome Dr Natalie Eaton-Fitch (PhD) to our Research Advisor to the Board.
Natalie is a Research Fellow at the National Centre for Neuroimmunology and Emerging Diseases (NCNED), Griffith University. She holds a multidisciplinary PhD in Immunology and Epidemiology in the field of ME/CFS. Natalie’s research at the NCNED has been instrumental in the identification of the pathology of ME/CFS and identification of treatment strategies. Her current research aims to develop a diagnostic test and implement best care practices to improve health outcomes for people living with ME/CFS.
As a young researcher at NCNED, she and her colleagues have visited Severe ME patients to collect blood samples for the research. She spent time to chat with patients and gained the valuable insights into patients’ lived experience and knowledge.
She has been tirelessly advocating for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) with Professor Sonya Marshall-Gradisnik, Director at NCNED and also our Honorary Clinical and Research Advisor to the Board.
They co-authored ‘Understanding myalgic encephalomyelitis‘ published at the prestigious Science journal sharing their expert insights into the overlapping presentation between ME and Long Covid.
They recently presented 1.5-hour lecture on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), titled Chronic Fatigue Syndrome at Capital Health Network‘s CPD event. The lecture covered the various case definitions under ME/CFS umbrella group, how to diagnose ME following ME International Consensus Primer for Medical Practitioners (ICP), Model of Care, and insights for the future, such as potential pharmaceutical treatment.
This lecture was the first Australian lecture on ME. This achievement is the prelude to fulfill the desperate needs to educate current and future Healthcare Practitioners.
With Dr Kiran Thapaliya (PhD) and Professor Sonya Marshall-Gradisnik, the fellow Advisors to the Board from the NCNED placed us in a unique and credible position to pursue our goal for Value Added and Sustainable MEGA Clinic Dream to help patients with ME and Long Covid.
